Illinois ranks as one of the worst (45th out of 50) states for lawsuit abuse – and that reputation is due, in large part, to Cook County.
That’s because Cook County ranks as the worst jurisdiction in the country for lawsuit abuse, according to a new Harris survey conducted for the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform.
This reputation is good for trial lawyers … but bad for Illinois’ employers, consumers and working families.

Or that the Cook County Board is considering a quarter-billion in new bonds to help pay for the rising number of lawsuits against the county?
This is nothing more than a Cook County Lawsuit Tax - new debt paid for by county taxpayers in an economic slowdown - on top of the massive sales tax increase enacted last year.
